A song that has the most meaning to me is “Cycling Trivialities”. His lyrics are astonishingly simple and mostly repetitive, but somehow manage to maintain the depth of meaning that the other artists in this blog have injected into their music. Gonzalez’s music is on another level of profound, stirring up the deepest feelings of serenity and inciting deep reflections on the state of our society and the state of human nature today. His understated yet complex style of classical guitar is a far cry from his hard rock roots. Listening to his solo music, one would be shocked to discover that he got his start by playing in three different hard rock bands. His music, like his culture, seems to occupy two different worlds. González was born and raised in Sweden after his parents fled Argentina during a military struggle. José González is a purely Latino artist, as is obvious from his name.
